GERATEC

Creating a residential community where every older person feels welcome, accepted, and independent can be a daunting task, but with the right tools, it can become almost second nature. The truth we must always keep in mind is that environments matter. In fact, it is often through the stimuli that surround us that we experience safety and freedom, or trauma and imprisonment. This does not change with age.

GERATEC is grounded in the principle of quality of life that transcends our basic duty to those we encounter in long-term residential communities on a daily basis. How we achieve an environment where quality of life is honoured is another matter altogether.

In four webinars, held between September and November, we dig deeper into the topics that many of us may have been too embarrassed to ask about in the past. We want to do away with the stigma that surrounds both aging and the care of older persons.

Join us as we explore an alternative approach to dementia, attaining a strong employee community, practical ways to prevent falls that do not inhibit freedoms, and how to make those in our midst living with diabetes feel safe and affirmed.
