This course introduces you to the various nutrients and their important role in bodily functions. We also look at the different Food Groups and the Food Pyramid for older persons and how to make healthy choices.
B: MENU PLANNING
Practical points to plan and put together a cycle menu for long term care facilities.
C: NUTRITION FOR OLDER PERSONS
This very important session covers the bodily changes and other general problems older persons might experience that could negatively impact their nutritional status. We discuss dietary recommendations to manage these changes.
D: SOFT, PUREE AND LIQUID DIETS
We look at the indications for soft, puree and liquid diets, the foods that can be given and how to present these diets in an appetising and dignified way.
