Breaking news!!! Margie van Zyl, our Director of Strategic Partnerships has just been elected as the new chair of the International Association of Homes and Services for the Aged at their bi-annual conference in Shanghai, China. For the first time in the history of this organisation of 22 years, the chair goes to Africa and to a woman.
Margie has been working for many years in the Aged Care sector, serving as chair of SAAHA (South African Association of Homes for the Aged). Her passion for making connections and bringing global interest to the sector has been rewarded by this prestigious appointment.
Margie Van Zyl is attending the conference currently underway in Shanghai, China. The mission of the International Association of Homes and Services for the Aged is to connect and support care and service providers worldwide to enhance quality of life for ageing.
Now the world will start noticing the wonderful work that is being done in South Africa, and we hope that a new international interest will be sparked to create opportunities for work in our Aged Care workforce.
The Australian SAGE (Studying and Advancing Global Eldercare) tour planned to South Africa has already increased to twenty visitors who will come to the 2014 South African Care Forum Festival in October to be held in Stellenbosch.
